Announcement of Best Tennis Town contest

Nominate your community. All town officials leading the efforts for their community will nominate their town and then work with community members to begin organizing and gathering information for nomination.

Entrants will need to prepare and submit a video, which can be no longer than 5 minutes and no larger than 500 MB. The video must also be in one of the following formats: .mpeg, .mov, .avi, .wmv, .mpeg, or .flv.

Entrants will also need to submit five letters of support. Three (3) must be from one (1) of the following:

A mayor or executive government leader - must be on official letterhead/stationary
A park director or recreation department leader
A community business representative

The other two (2) can be from anyone in the community.

June 29, 2010 - July 15, 2010
A qualified panel of judges chooses The Top Ten (10) Finalist Communities, which will be profiled online on July 16, 2010.

July 15, 2010
Top ten communities are notified and informed they will be profiled online for the nationwide vote.

July 16, 2010 - July 26, 2010
The USTA will feature and promote The Top Ten (10) Finalists online and will enable the commencement of Nationwide voting for The 2010 Best Tennis Town. Voting will be conducted online and will close on July 26, 2010 at 11:59 am ET. Get all your family and friends across the country to vote for your community during this period.

July 28, 2010
The 2010 Best Tennis Town Top 3 and 7 Honorable Mentions are announced to all 10 Finalists. The bottom 7 entrants are informed that they are Honorable Mentions. The top 3 are informed that they are in the top 3 winners, but will not be informed of their place. The order of the Grand Prize, 2nd prize, and 3rd prize winners will not be revealed until the 2010 US Open.

August 30, 2010 to September 12, 2010
The 2010 Best Tennis Town and 2nd and 3rd prize winners will be awarded and recognized during US Open, date to be determined.
